Systems / Lead Engineer

Job description

Airbus DS NL is expanding its business into free space optical communication, using satellites. As Systems / Lead Engineer for optical communications, you will be the technical lead for proposal preparations, as well as for the contract and execution of projects. Among other tasks, you will act as the system architect, manage the requirements, guide teams of technical specialists, deliver technical designs and system performance calculations and you will interface with customers, partners and suppliers. Additionally, you will support product / business development and y have a key role in defining the optical communication strategy for Airbus DS NL.

What it takes

You have completed a technical, academic university education, supplemented with at least ten years of working experience of which at least three years in the field of optical communications. You have experience in the space industry and you are a technical expert in the field of optical communications. Your background is in communication technology, control, electronics, software, optics and / or photonics. You are results-driven, pragmatic and proactive. You are organized and capable of managing scope, costs and risks. You have strong communication and negotiation skills and great commercial awareness. You are a strategic thinker and capable of navigating through challenging political environments. You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
